Paul Klee was a Swiss artist whose career began around the start of the 21st century and concentrated on the art movements of Expressionism, Bauhaus and Surrealism which he combined with his own imagination and careful selection of bold colours to create innovative paintings. By the end of his career in 1940 Klee had amassed an impressive selection of some 10,000 from his career, including oil paintings, drawings, and etchings, such as The Twittering Machine, Fish Magic, Viaducts Break Ranks. Switzerland itself has never had a great record with regards art but this was to change during the period of Paul Klee as this Swiss artist was to leave a very impact on contemporary art thanks to his innovative ideas combined with his influence with in the Bauhaus movement which delivered many new theories on where art could go in future years. This highly progressive group of artists also included the likes of Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc who were equally as expressive and talented as Paul Klee.

Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky spent some time teaching the finer points of art to budding students whilst looking at ways to push on existing art movements with their own ideas. Their theories mainly focused on the use of colour with in art and they spent considerable amounts of time planning and then publishing their findings on this which were also then incorporated into some of their own paintings.
